'79 Live was recorded in Kyoto in December of 1979. Friction emerged in the late 70s as part of the Tokyo Rockers movement and are still active today

Upside Down - Playmate
Japan Bashing is a series of three "7 release by Public Bath Records. Public Bath Records specialized in releasing Japanese underground rock bands on LP and CD in the early 90s. Many of the artists were from Osaka-based Alchemy Records. Japan Bashing Volume 2 is a split release between Playmate and Subvert Blaze.

Rappo to Musume - Kasagi Shizuko
Kasagi Shizuko was a popular singer Jazz singer and actress. Rappo to Musume was written by Hattori Ryoichi and first released in 1940. Hattori as a song composer who helped usher in a jazz boom in Japan after the end of World War II. Hattori Jazz & Jive is a collection of songs composed by Hattori, selected by Konishi Yasuharu of Pizzicato Five fame.

Mayonaka no Bossa Nova - Hide & Rosanna
Hide & Rosanna are Hide Demon and Rosanna Zambon, a popular husband-and-wife singing duo from the late 1960s and 1970s. Their first single, Ai no Kiseki was released in 1968. Hide unfortunately passed away in 1990, but Rosanna continues to live and work in Japan. The Japan Times did a profile of her in 2002 and it is available here.

Asadoya Yunta - Omodaka
Asadoya Yunta is a famous traditional song from Okinawa, the southernmost prefecture in Japan. Omodaka is a solo project of Soichi Terada, a composer, arranger, and remixer who has been musically active since 1989. Omodaka's sound is characterized by the seamless mixture of Minyo (Japanese folk songs) and electronics, with vocals provided by veteran Enka singer Kanazawa Akiko.
